Our Story
Aloha Mai - Welcome
My name is Dawn Kānealiʻi-Kleinfelder and I own Liko Lehua. I am a mommy to three beautiful little ones, a wifey, a dreamer and a Hawaiian entrepreneur.
Liko Lehua was born, nestled on the slopes of Mauna Loa in Waiākea Uka, above the little town of Hilo. My great great grandmother would tell me stories of the ʻōhiʻa lehua trees and its beautiful red blossoms that surrounded her childhood home. Liko Lehua was named for the love of the ʻōhiʻa lehua groves and the continued growth it has inspired in the generations of our ohana (family).
My Aunt Diane Kānealiʻi established Liko Lehua Butter with her sister Arlene in 1996. What began as a fundraiser for local soccer teams quickly grew into a thriving family run business. As word got out about our delightful island delicacy, our company continued to grow. Today people from around the world enjoy the tropical scents and flavors in each hand poured jar of Liko Lehua Butter – a reminder of Hawaii.
In 2011 Diane handed the leadership over to me. Adding my own love for my community and sustainable business practices, I now run and operate Liko Lehua Butter, Café and Farms with the help of my ohana. The idea behind the butter has stayed the same:
- 100% Family owned and operated
- Locally sourced products
- Natural, farm fresh ingredients
- Quality control through small batches
- World class taste
- Over 25 years in business
Liko Lehua Butters are handcrafted fruit flavored spreads that capture the essence of Hawaii. Every jar contains those childhood flavors and smells that invoke the memories of Hawaii we love and hold dear. Most importantly - Liko Lehua Butter looks forward to spreading Aloha across the world one jar at a time.
Mahalo Nui Loa,
Matt and Dawn Kānealiʻi-Kleinfelder
